José Higareda Esteban
General Partner
José Higareda Esteban is a Mexican businessman and entrepreneur with experience in business development, technology, and projects connected to the sports industry.
His professional journey began in competitive football, participating in player development and competition processes within Mexico’s Professional Third Division and Professional Second Division, while also completing preseason training programs within organizations competing in Liga de Expansión. This experience provided him with firsthand insight into the operations of sports organizations, talent development challenges, team management, and the evolving needs of the broader sports ecosystem.
Following his career as a football player, he entered the private sector by founding a company specializing in the sale and installation of synthetic turf for sports and recreational facilities. Through this venture, he gained experience in sales, negotiation, project management, client relations, and the development of business opportunities related to sports infrastructure.
He later co-founded a software development and technology solutions company, where he played an active role in commercial strategy, business development, innovation, and process automation. This experience further strengthened his understanding of how technology can serve as a catalyst for growth, operational efficiency, and value creation across multiple industries.
The combination of his sports, business, and technology backgrounds has enabled him to develop a comprehensive perspective on building high-value ventures, identifying investment opportunities with strong growth potential, and creating meaningful long-term impact.
Mauricio Andrés Peña Barrena

As Founding Partner of León Barrena Rodríguez & Partners and Morgans LLP, a North American professional services firm specializing in legal, tax, accounting, and government affairs, he advises across both private and public markets.
Throughout his legal career, he has represented clients from a broad range of industries in their most significant and complex legal matters. His work includes advising government policymakers, public institutions, and domestic and international companies on sophisticated transactions and regulatory frameworks, while supporting strategic growth initiatives.
He has joined our Advisory Board as a key contributor, bringing a track record in public equities and serving on the Global Equities Committee.
